I was ordering some LEDs to replace some old grain of wheat bulbs when I ran across these. (See Attachment) Instead of calculating the correct resistor, these supply the proper current regardless of the voltage. They are about $2.50 each, so much more expensive than plain resistors, but they should keep the LEDs bright regardless of the voltage. (I haven't tried one yet.)
